Hi there! I’m Rotem (pronounced ROE-tem) đŸŒ»

I explore young people’s ethical thinking about emerging technologies (namely, AI).

I’m a PhD candidate at the Information School at the University of Washington, co-advised by Katie Davis and Amy J. Ko. My work spans across the computing education and human-computer interaction fields.

Current Work

I am part of the Center for Digital Youth and work closely with a variety of interdisciplinary collaborators.

I am currently also a Graduate Student Researcher at foundry10.

My research explores:

  • How do we conceptualize and support youth’s everyday ethical thinking about emerging technologies?
  • How can we encourage open conversations about AI use for youth and their adults?
  • What do teachers need in order to create spaces for ethical contemplation in their classrooms?
  • How can young people’s ethical contemplation practices support perceptions of digital well-being?
